Odisha middle-order batsman Sandeep Pattnaik hit a defiant century against Bengal on the third and last day of their East Zone Vijay Merchant Trophy U-16 cricket match, which ended in a tame draw here at Gandhi Stadium today.
But Sandeep`s fine knock of 109 (14x4) went in vain as Bengal gained three points by virtue of taking 109-run first innings lead, while hosts Odisha settled with one point. In reply to Bengal`s first innings total of 332, Odisha folded up for 223 after resuming at the overnight score of 110 for six. Bengal were 23 for one in the second innings when the match ended in draw.
